Our Team
The Prevention & Intervention Department supports Catholic Community Services by identifying supports and resources for families to ensure safety and promote well-being as well as advocating for families who are in crisis or transition.
“Being part of prevention is a privilege and such a gratifying experience,” says Ginger Smith, Director of Prevention & Intervention Services. “Servant leadership lies at the core of all our efforts, which are strategically and thoughtfully executive to evoke positive outcomes and change.”

“Our team is comprised of a diverse group of passion-filled individuals who have a heart for service and making impactful deposits in the lives of others.”
— Ginger Smith, Director of Prevention & Intervention Services

Our Work
Utilizing a strength-based approach to parent engagement, prevention team members supervise visits, assist with medical and behavioral health needs, actively engage all caregivers (including fathers), recruit potential foster homes, engage the at-risk teen population, and host a variety of events and activities, such as Parent Cafés, that connect families to resource and develop social skills. Clients do not need to be involved with the Department of Human Services in order to participate in or benefit from our programming or resources.
“Through our engagement, outreach, collaboration and partnerships, we help to strengthen families and unite communities. Our families embody the true essence of resiliency by learning to utilize their concrete supports, draw upon their knowledge of parenting, gain support from an extended network of community and friends as well as teach their children how to communicate through their own modeling,” according to Smith. “We play an integral role in being transformative agents within the lives of those who are most vulnerable, but who have the capacity to succeed through utilization of resources and guided support.”
